Hosted by Kristen Drage, Softball Coordinator at Rapsodo, our guests will include Nate Walker from Diamond Solutions, and Ashley Sunshine and Laura McDonald from S2Breakthrough. The group will discuss how technology and data has changed the way softball coaches and trainers develop athletes, the role data will continue to have in player evaluation, and how players, parents and coaches can use data metrics to improve and get recruited.

Kristen Drage is the Softball Coordinator at Rapsodo, where she works primarily with softball programs to enhance player development using data analytics. Prior to Rapsodo, she coached for over 8 years at DI, DII, NAIA and travel ball levels. During her collegiate career, she was a Division II All-American at Missouri University of Science & Technology where she received a BS in Civil Engineering. She also has her MS in Sport Management.

Nate Walker is the founder and President of Diamond Solutions, an analytics consulting firm that uses data and technology to optimize player value within softball and baseball organizations. Nate currently works with a wide range of softball clientele which includes Olympic teams, Women’s College World Series Champions and participants, Power Five schools, mid-major programs, travel teams, and event companies. Prior to starting Diamond Solutions, Nate worked for two Major League Baseball front offices, where he served as a liaison to the Major League coaching staff, assisting them with game preparation, in-game strategy, player acquisition, and statistical research.
Ashley Sunshine

Ashley is the Co-Owner and Director of Pitching Development at S2 Breakthrough. Ashley and her friend Krista Stoker dreamed of changing the way softball training was done, so together they created S2 Breakthrough – a personalized, data-driven softball training facility located in the suburbs of Chicago. Prior to S2 Breakthrough, Ashley held Hitting and Pitching instructor, Assistant Coach, and Head Coach positions at DI and travel ball levels. She has a Bachelor of Arts degree in Psychology from Emory University and a Masters in Exercise Physiology from the University of Illinois at Chicago. During her collegiate softball career, Ashley received First Team All-Conference and All-Region region titles. She was also named PA Gatorade Player of the Year in 2004.

Dr. Laura McDonald is a biomechanist and sport scientist with research expertise in softball pitching biomechanics. Prior to joining S2 Breakthrough, Laura worked in higher education as a professor in undergraduate Athletic Training and Exercise Science programs. At S2 Breakthrough, she oversees the implementation of advanced technology for athlete assessment, data management, interpretation and application, and provides injury management and biomechanics consultation.
