It’s my great pleasure to welcome you to Softball America. What is Softball America? I’m glad you asked.

Softball America is a comprehensive national website covering the sport on multiple levels, from high school to travel ball to college, professional and international. SA is the sister publication of Baseball America, which has chronicled the future of America’s pastime for nearly 40 years and is known to those in the industry as “the bible of baseball.”

We are using the same formula that has made Baseball America so successful for nearly four decades and tailoring it for softball. You’ll get rankings, scouting reports, in-depth and behind the scenes feature stories you won’t find anywhere else, in addition to analysis from our team of experts.

As the college season is set to begin, we are launching with a lot of NCAA content, including our inaugural Top 100 players and Top 25 teams. In the weeks to come, we will be rolling out a Top 100 high school players, the Top 25 teams in the nation and the top juniors and sophomores. After that we’ll be featuring state-by-state top players lists. You’ll also get stories and analysis about the National Pro Fastpitch league and Team USA.

“The launch of Softball America propels the sport into mainstream media coverage at the highest level,” said National Pro Fastpitch commissioner Cheri Kempf. “The coverage, from prospect to professional, will be a game changer for everyone who is immersed in this incredible sport.”

In addition, Softball America will give you first-person stories from some of the leading names in the game. Check out former Oklahoma and current Chicago Bandits star pitcher Paige Lowary's account of how she overcame her demons and found happiness earlier in her career. A lifestyle section will cover everything from what players are wearing to training, and the industry section will cover gear, technology and the business of the game.

Softball is growing tremendously and as participation numbers are on the rise and ratings of the Women's College World Series on ESPN soar, the sport is uncovered nationally. We hope to play a part in changing that.

So, welcome to Softball America. Check us out, help us spread the word and tell us what you think. This is just the beginning. We hope you like what you see and come back every day.

B.J. Schecter is the editor and publisher of Baseball America and will oversee Softball America.
