Washington's Sis Bates To Miss Mary Nutter Classic

The University of Washington's softball program announced on Thursday that senior shortstop Sis Bates will not be available to play this weekend at the Mary Nutter Collegiate Classic.
Bates, who is currently in concussion protocol, sat out for all five of Washington's games last weekend at the St. Pete/Clearwater Elite Invitational in Clearwater, Fla. Before last weekend, Bates had not missed a game in her college career.
Bates last played on Feb. 12 in a midweek contest at the University of Central Florida. She started the season batting .571 with 12 hits, eight runs scored and five RBI for the Huskies.
The two-time First Team All-American is also the two-time reigning Pac-12 Defensive Player of the Year. Bates was Softball America's third-ranked player in the 2020 College Top 100.
Washington is 10-1 this season, with its only loss of the year thus far coming against Alabama last weekend.
