After announcing their decision to part ways with the National Pro Fastpitch (NPF) back in September, the USSSA Pride took the field for the first time as an independent professional team over the weekend for an exhibition series against two of college softball's best squads.

On Friday night, the Pride defeated Florida in extra innings, 1-0, in a game that saw freshman pitcher Rylee Trlicek go the distance in the circle for the Gators. Trlicek held a potent USSSA offense to just four hits on the night. A run-scoring single from Megan Good notched the game-winning run for the Pride in the eighth inning.

On Saturday, USSSA played another tough contest, this time downing Florida State, 2-1. A solo home run by Chelsea Goodacre got the scoring started for the Pride in the second inning, which was later followed by an RBI single from FSU's Devyn Flaherty in the fourth, which tied the game at one. Good collected her second game-winning RBI in as many days when she ripped a single to right field in the seventh to secure another Pride win.

Florida also played Florida State on Saturday and posted a 6-1 victory over the Seminoles to wrap up the 2019 fall season.
