USA Softball has announced the four assistant coaches who will join the 2020 Olympic team in Tokyo.

The assistants on head coach Ken Eriksen's coaching staff include Heather Tarr, Laura Berg, Tairia Flowers and Howard Dobson.

"Team USA is in great hands with our coaching staff heading into the training season and into the 'Stand Beside Her' tour," Eriksen said in a press release. "The addition of assistant coaches Laura Berg, Howard Dobson, Tairia Flowers and Heather Tarr is a bonus for our athletes. Their combined knowledge, experience and communication abilities is a tremendous asset for our team in its efforts to get better every day. With Olympic Games experiences amongst the staff, I feel very honored to have these four great people join us."

All four of Team USA's assistant coaches currently occupy coaching positions within the college game. Tarr is the head coach at Washington, Berg is the head coach at Oregon State, Flowers is the head coach at CSUN and Dobson is an assistant coach at LSU. Berg and Flowers also served as USA Softball Olympians during their respective playing careers.

"Congratulations to all four coaches on this much-deserved selection as an assistant coach for our 2020 women's national team," USA Softball CEO Craig Cress said in the release. "Their qualifications alone speak volumes to their ability to lead and guide athletes in their journey to gold. It's also extremely special for us to have two Olympians on our coaching staff who can share invaluable experience and knowledge on what the members of the 2020 team can expect."

Softball competition at the 2020 Olympic Games is scheduled to begin July 22, with the gold-medal game slated for July 28.
