U.S., Japan Sit Atop Latest World Rankings

According to the latest World Baseball Softball Confederation (WBSC) rankings, the U.S. and Japan are once again the top-ranked international softball teams in the world.
The latest countries to join the WBSC rankings for softball are Belize and Chile, while a record-setting 69 nations were featured in the most recent rankings.
"The international softball family keeps growing, with 69 countries and territories now featured in the standings, showcasing the global reach of our sport," WBSC softball chairman Tommy Velazquez said in a press release. "To open the Olympic year, the six qualified nations for Tokyo 2020 are ranked in the top 10, assuring the highest level of play and competition during the historic return of softball to the Olympic program."
The top six spots in the WBSC rankings remained the same, with Team USA ranked at No. 1, Japan at No. 2, Canada at No. 3, Puerto Rico at No. 4, Mexico at No. 5 and Chinese Taipei at No. 6.
