2020 Mary Nutter Collegiate Classic Schedule Announced

The official schedule for the 2020 Mary Nutter Collegiate Classic was announced on Tuesday afternoon. There are 29 Division-I collegiate programs competing and they will be joined by the United States Olympic Team.
Over the course of four days, 74 games will be played on five fields at Big League Dreams in Cathedral City, Calif.
Here are five games that we have circled on the schedule.
Bethune-Cookman vs. Oregon
Bethune-Cookman’s 5-3 win over Oregon was one of the highlights of the 2019 Mary Nutter Collegiate Classic. Alexis Bermudez started for the Wildcats and Maddie MacGrandle was in the circle for the Ducks. Neither pitcher is still with their program and Oregon added several new arms to help Jordan Dail.
Arizona vs. Florida
Florida won the lone meeting between these two last season 3-2 and at the end of the year, both teams were playing in Oklahoma City. Neither made the championship series and are both searching for a new leader in the circle. Arizona returns several starters including Alyssa Palomino-Cardoza, Jessie Harper, Malia Martinez, Reyna Carranco, Jenna Kean, Hannah Martinez and Dejah Mulipola if she doesn’t make Team USA. Florida returns Sophia Reynoso, Kendyl Lindaman, Jordan Roberts, Jaimie Hoover, Jade Caraway, Jordan Matthews, Hannah Adams and Hannah Sipos.
Arizona vs. Auburn
This was the Tucson Regional Final matchup in 2019 and will be an early test a new-look Auburn team. The Tigers fell into the loser’s bracket after a 2-1 loss to the Wildcats but fought back to run-rule Colorado State to reach the finals. They fell 12-3 to end their season. Auburn returns four starters and will most likely be turning to Ashlee Swindle as its No. 1 pitcher.
Oklahoma vs. Wisconsin
Wisconsin ended Oklahoma’s historic winning streak last season with a 2-1 loss the first game of the Regional finals. The Badgers return seven of eight positioned players and their top two pitchers. Oklahoma lost a huge senior class but returns veteran leadership in Giselle “G” Juarez, Nicole Mendes and Jocelyn Alo.
Oklahoma vs. Washington
Both teams made it to the WCWS last year but were lined up on opposite sides of the bracket and didn’t play each other. Washington will turn to Gabbie Plain as its ace and maybe we will get of freshman Kelley Lynch in a matchup like this. Both teams are primed for a return to OKC in 2020.
*Honorable Mention* UCLA vs. Team USA
Is it possible that we see Rachel Garcia pitch against her collegiate team? Probably not but she will most likely be playing in this game as a member of Team USA and not UCLA. Most teams only play their starters for a couple of innings against Team USA before giving everyone a chance to play against the best team in the world. It will sure be a fun matchup to watch and is one of the last games of the weekend.
