MAAC Cancels Softball Season

The Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference (MAAC) announced Thursday that it will cancel all spring sports for the remainder of the 2019-2020 academic year due to the recent COVID-19 outbreak.
"The Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference Council of Presidents has also unanimously voted to cancel all spring sports competitions, practices (including captain's practices), effective tomorrow, March 13th and other athletic related activities for the remainder of the 2020 Spring semester," the league announced in a statement.
The conference is now the 16th Division-I league to have its spring sports impacted by COVID-19. The CAA, Pac-12, SEC, WAC, NEC, Missouri Valley, Big West, Mountain West, Southland, Summit, ACC, SWAC and Conference USA announced they would suspend their spring sports on Thursday, while the Ivy League and Patriot League both canceled their spring seasons outright.
Eleven Division-I softball teams compete in the MAAC.
