Team Italy's Erika Piancastelli will play in her first Olympic Games this month when she takes the field in Tokyo. Piancastelli, who is a 2018 graduate of McNeese State, has been a member of the Italian national team since 2015.

She also finished in fourth place in point total for the inaugural Athletes Unlimited professional softball season last summer, and will return to the league for season two after the Olympics.

Piancastelli's mother, who is also a softball Olympian, competed in the 2000 Games in Sydney for Team Italy.

Piancastelli spoke with Softball America about her mindset ahead of the Tokyo Olympics, what softball fans should expect to see from Team Italy, her mother's influence on her softball journey and plenty more.

Watch below for Softball America's interview with Piancastelli, presented by Mizuno.
