College Softball's Top Second Basemen Entering 2021

A softball team's second baseman is a vital asset to its defense, as she anchors the middle infield by turning double plays and communicating with outfielders for cuts and fly balls much like a shortstop does.
As we look ahead to the 2021 college softball season, we at Softball America are taking some time to examine a handful of the top college players at each position on the field.
See below for three of the best second basemen in the college game today.
Reyna Carranco
Redshirt Senior, Arizona
Carranco has been a consistent force for Arizona throughout her entire college career. Defensively, she had a .963 fielding percentage with only one error in 2020, while also turning three double plays.
Look for Carranco to continue to be a force for the Wildcats in their middle infield, as they look to ride their deep and heavy senior class back to OKC.
Taryn Atlee
Senior, Washington
Atlee is a consistent glove for the Huskies at second base. She had a .942 fielding percentage in 2020 with only four errors during the shortened season. Atlee will look to continue her leadership up the middle with Sis Bates by her side in 2020.
Kinsley Washington
Redshirt Junior, UCLA
The versatile Washington is one of the Bruins' top defenders on the field, as she had a .971 fielding percentage during UCLA's 2019 national championship season with only six errors all year.
The redshirt junior, who had the national title–winning hit for the Bruins in 2019, is undoubtedly one of the best second basemen in all of college softball.
