Athletes Unlimited senior director Cheri Kempf spoke with SA about the first-ever Athletes Unlimited College Draft, which is set to take place on Monday, May 10 at 8 p.m. ET and stream live on Facebook.

Kempf, who has years of experience in the professional softball space as the longtime commissioner of National Pro Fastpitch (NPF), discussed the revolutionary new professional league and what she hopes and expects for it in the future.

The Draft will feature the announcement of the 12 college seniors with exhausted NCAA eligibility who will be invited to join the league for its second season, which begins in late August. Each drafted player will be announced by either a member of the Athletes Unlimited Softball Player Executive Committee or one of several women role models within professional sports.
