LOS ANGELES-- With a home-run and a grand slam, Bubba Nickles is absolutely on fire.

Going into Game 2 of the Los Angeles Regional against Mizzou, UCLA head coach, Kelly Inouye-Perez, said, “I think we sent the message right from the beginning, what you saw today is UCLA Softball.”

With Rachel Garcia dominating in the circle giving up just one hit in 4.2 innings and huge offensive performances by Bubba Nickles and Aaliyah Jordan in the first and fourth, this 2019 team is powerful.

Going into the first inning, Bubba Nickles, the lead off, fired a bomb over the center field fence, quickly putting UCLA at a 1-0 lead. With Briana Perez on base by an error, Aaliyah Jordan, continued the home-run train, driving her 10th home run of the season over the center field fence, bringing UCLA’s lead to three.

With zero’s in the second and third innings, the Bruins bring out the rally cap’s in the fourth.

Pinch hitting for Paige Halstead, Briana Tautaulafua, drew the walk leaving the bases loaded and brought Kinsley Washington to the plate. Washington, who went 3-for-3 in yesterday’s game against Weber State, punched one to the outfield that scored two to extend the lead to five.

With rally caps, dance moves, and superstitious cheers in full effect, the Bruins momentum had no end in sight as Nickles hit a grand slam.
