Clemson's Valerie Cagle is Softball America's NCAA Player of the Year for the 2023 college softball season.
Cagle had an unbelievable season both in the circle and at the plate for the Tigers. In the circle, she went 25-8 with a 1.56 ERA and 188 strikeouts as the ace of the Tigers. At the plate, Cagle batted .469 with 83 hits, including 19 home runs, 15 doubles and 57 RBIs.
The Virginia native, who has one more season of NCAA eligibility remaining, led Clemson to a No. 16 seed in the 2023 NCAA Tournament. With Cagle leading the way, the Tigers won a Regional championship before being eliminated by No. 1 Oklahoma in an extra-inning affair in Super Regionals.
The best two-way player in Division I softball was the winner of nearly every major college softball award that she was eligible for in 2023.
