2022 NCAA Most Improved Player: Yannira Acuña

Yannira Acuña of Arizona State is Softball America's NCAA Most Improved Player for the 2022 college softball season.
Acuña, who has one year of NCAA eligibility remaining, went from posting career highs in batting average (.311) and home runs (7) last year to smashing those marks this season with a .430 batting average and 14 home runs. She also started in all 54 games her team played, scored 63 runs and added 43 RBIs in 2022.
Last year, Acuña ranked second among the Sun Devils in slugging percentage (.676) and on-base percentage (.452). While she once again ranked second in those categories this season—behind freshman phenom Cydney Sanders—Acuña upped the ante in 2022 with an .852 slugging percentage and a .562 on-base percentage.
Acuña was a major reason why Arizona State came within one win of reaching the Women's College World Series this season.
