2020 NCAA Pitcher Of The Year: Megan Faraimo

Filling in for All-American Rachel Garcia would be a daunting task for anyone. UCLA asked sophomore right-handed pitcher Megan Faraimo to do just that this year, and she more than delivered for the Bruins during the shortened 2020 season.
In 90.1 innings of work for the Bruins, Faraimo accumulated a 13-1 record, 149 strikeouts and a 0.85 earned run average. Her 11.5 strikeouts per seven innings were the most of any pitcher who tossed over 80 innings in 2020. She made 14 appearances and threw 10 complete games in them.
Faraimo also had great success against some of the country's top teams. She shut out Alabama, Michigan and Minnesota, then against Florida, Florida State and Georgia, she didn’t allow more than two earned runs over 20.2 innings of work.
Based upon the results of her freshman campaign, Faraimo passed her season total in strikeouts in fewer innings, while also lowering her marks for ERA and batting average against.
UCLA has a lot to smile about as Faraimo has plenty of college softball left to play.
