Kayla Lombardo is a writer and editor covering softball at large for Softball America. A native of New Jersey, she is a former Division I softball team captain at Fordham University and a three-time Atlantic 10 Conference champion and NCAA Tournament participant. At Fordham, she was a two-time First Team All-Atlantic 10 Conference honoree and a two-time Third Team NFCA All-Region selection. She earned academic honors at Fordham as well, graduating magna cum laude in 2015 and earning Academic All-District and Academic All-Conference honors as a Ram. After college, she wrote for Sports Illustrated and Excelle Sports, and later went on to coach Division I softball at Lehigh University, where she earned a master’s degree in 2019.
